UNHCR's role in Central Europe

UNHCR Regional Representation for Central Europe is based in Budapest, and covers 7 countries: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

UNHCR's role in this region is to:

  • Promote and ensure effective access to the territory and asylum procedures
  • Promote and support reception conditions in line with international standards
  • Promote and support fair and efficient protection procedures
  • Promote and support and implementation of durable solutions
